And finally, some Substance Finca Sophia Lot 129 Natural! I had 50g and saved you guys a dose to brew together. One of my favorite coffees I’ve had this year so far.

*as I’m building out this page, I noticed I forgot to pack the lid to yours. I’m going to send it separately and it should arrive while you’re still in LA.

Filter Case (Hatchbox PLA)

You’ll know which is for each of you! Designed to hold up to 100 April Large wave papers, with a screw on top. Made of Hatchbox PLA for ecofriendliness and surface finish quality. If needed, spot clean with a damp rag.

Prototype “Geometry” Brewers (Colorfabb HT/Tritan)

Designed with 5 standoffs at the base of the filter, but curved in a negative dome shape (the paper is not held perfectly flat). In general I have noticed this increases flow and helps the coffee coalesce into a stream more, kind of like the Solo. Designed to work well with April filters and two pour recipes. In my testing, it flows faster than the April given the same brewing parameters, and requires a decent jump finer to hit the same contact time. There are 45 and 57mm sizes to test, with the S and L April filters respectively. I’ve been preferring the smaller slightly (12-13:200), but the larger size is more dose-flexible. The bases are made of Carbon PETG, and designed to fit both sizes. I made the brewers two pieces so I could print the required shapes without support material.

Experimental Brewer (Switch-Compatible Solo, Colorfabb HT/Tritan)

This is a flat bottom brewer designed to fit directly into the Hario Switch base. It has similar interior geometry to the Solo, so tools and papers will work across both. This was developed as an alternative to the April Hybrid, which is expensive and has reliability issues with the valve mechanism and seal.

Additional food safety and cleaning info for brewers:

All my printed parts use no bed adhesives, and a stainless steel nozzle (lead-free). Note that the printing process results in layer lines which can allow for microbial buildup in some cases, for this reason I recommend avoiding contact with anything other than water and coffee, and a thorough rinse after use. If necessary, clean with a soft sponge and mild detergent with hot water.
